Grammy 2026 expõe o encolhimento do rock e reforça seu papel como linguagem de resistência

Premiação consagra novos formatos, mas mantém o rock presente mais pela influência histórica do que pelo protagonismo nas categorias centrais

A 68ª edição do Grammy Awards, realizada neste domingo (1º), voltou a escancarar uma tendência que já se desenha há alguns anos: o rock segue presente na maior premiação da música, mas cada vez mais deslocado do centro das atenções. Em 2026, o gênero apareceu menos como força dominante e mais como herança viva, sustentada por artistas, discos e estéticas que continuam influenciando a indústria, mesmo fora do foco principal da noite.

Se a conversa sobre o Grammy 2026 ficou barulhenta demais em volta das grandes categorias pop, o recorte do rock trouxe, sim, motivo real para prestar atenção. O principal deles atende pelo nome The Cure. Depois de décadas como referência absoluta do pós-punk e do rock alternativo, a banda finalmente levou seu primeiro Grammy, vencendo Best Alternative Music Performance com “Alone”. A noite ainda ficou melhor para Robert Smith e companhia com a vitória de Best Alternative Music Album para Songs of a Lost World, encerrando a história curiosa de um grupo gigante que, até aqui, só tinha passado perto do troféu.

Nas categorias diretamente ligadas ao rock, a premiação também deu sinais de vida em outras frentes. O Turnstile apareceu como um dos nomes centrais do setor, levando Best Rock Album, e a noite ainda teve espaço para Nine Inch Nails vencer Best Rock Song, mostrando como o Grammy costuma “equilibrar” o rock entre novas forças e veteranos que atravessaram décadas sem pedir licença.

E teve ainda um detalhe que ajuda a amarrar a noite ao imaginário do rock como espetáculo e memória: a própria Academia registrou um tributo a Ozzy Osbourne na transmissão ao vivo, um daqueles momentos em que o rock não precisa ganhar “as grandes” para dominar o clima do evento.

América Latina e novos nomes no centro da premiação

O grande nome da noite foi Bad Bunny, que venceu a principal categoria da premiação, Álbum do Ano, consolidando de vez a música latina como força dominante dentro da indústria internacional. A vitória marca um momento histórico para o Grammy, não apenas pelo reconhecimento artístico, mas pelo simbolismo cultural. Bad Bunny já havia quebrado barreiras ao concorrer nas categorias gerais com um disco inteiramente em espanhol, e a consagração máxima da noite confirma que o idioma deixou de ser um limite para o mainstream..

As categorias latinas trouxeram um dos momentos mais celebrados da noite. Os argentinos CA7RIEL e Paco Amoroso venceram o prêmio de Melhor Álbum de Rock Latino ou Alternativo, superando nomes mais consolidados. No discurso, a dupla agradeceu ao público latino-americano e reforçou a ideia de uma cena criativa que cresce fora dos grandes mercados tradicionais.

A noite também entrou para a história da música brasileira com a vitória de Caetano Veloso e Maria Bethânia na categoria Melhor Álbum de Música Global. O prêmio concedido a Caetano e Bethânia Ao Vivo reconhece não apenas a força do projeto, mas a trajetória de dois artistas que ajudaram a redefinir os limites da canção popular brasileira e seu diálogo permanente com o rock, a contracultura e a experimentação.
